Everything Hroomy can do and how to use it — from the first sign-in to the finer settings. Buttons are shown in bold, and paths are written like this: Section → Button.
This is the main screen. At the bottom there are five buttons: Today, Menu, the big + (add food), History and Profile.
The ring shows how many calories you have eaten out of your daily target. Beside it are protein, fat, carbs and fiber: what you have and what you need. If the target is exceeded, it is not a mistake or a reason to blame yourself — just go lighter afterwards.
A short hint about what to add before your next meal (more in section 5). Above it is the day mode row: Regular day, In a rush, On the go, Workout. Pick a mode and the advice adapts: in a rush — things that need no stove; on the go — things you can take with you; on a workout day — a little more attention to protein and carbs. The mode applies for one day.
This button opens recipes from what you have at home (see section 7).
Iron, calcium, vitamins D, B12 and C, omega-3, magnesium, zinc. We show a percentage of the approximate daily value only when there is enough data; otherwise there is a “has appeared / has not appeared” mark and an explanation of why there are no percentages. “Unknown” is not the same as “zero”.
Tap the glasses to mark water you drank. You can change your water target in your profile.
The list of entries. Tapping an entry opens its card (section 4). At the bottom is the That’s everything I ate today button: tap it when you have logged the whole day. Then the weekly review knows the day is complete and does not treat a skipped lunch as “normal”. Changed your mind — Unmark.
About 90 minutes after a meal Hroomy may ask how you feel (energetic, fine, heavy, sleepy, bloated). Later hides the question. The answers feed careful observations in the weekly review.
Tap the big +. There are four tabs on top.
Take a photo opens the camera; From gallery uses an existing picture. Below there is a clarification field (“no sugar”, “this is for two”). Tap Analyze. The photo is passed to the AI only for the time of recognition and is not stored by us.
Write what you ate in one sentence: “a sandwich with butter and coffee with milk”. The microphone on the right is voice input. Under the field are quick suggestions from your usual dishes. Then Analyze.
A product card appears: ingredients, calories and nutrients per 100 g, ready portions (a portion, ¼, ½, the whole pack — no grams), a check of your allergens, and the buttons Add to diary and Explain in simple words. The data comes from the open Open Food Facts database and may be incomplete.
Photograph the venue’s menu or type a few dishes and tap What should I choose?. Hroomy suggests 2–3 options considering your restrictions and what you already ate today, shows what is better to skip and what to ask the waiter. The ingredients of dishes are unknown from the name, so allergens here are marked “ingredients unconfirmed” — ask the venue. I ordered this adds the dish to your diary.
A dish you confirmed several times appears above the tabs in “Your dishes”. Choose a portion (0.5 / 1 / 1.5 / 2) — the entry is added instantly, with no AI and no use of your limit.
After analysis you see the name, calories, macros, micronutrients, assumptions (what exactly Hroomy guessed) and confidence. If confidence is low, Hroomy asks one clarifying question — answering makes the analysis more accurate.
One to three short hints on the home screen: what to add before your next meal (or tomorrow, if the day is ending). It takes into account: what was missing today, your allergies and eating style, what you have at home, cost, cooking time, which food groups you already had, whether a dish repeats several days in a row, the day mode and the time. A line about leftovers that will soon spoil comes first.
The How can I make it a bit better? button on a dish card gives one or two small replacements in everyday portions — without criticism. One hint per entry; it does not use up your analysis limit.
Add the foods you have (quick chips or your own input). Rescue prefers them and marks “(at home)”, and recipes are built from them. With 3 or more foods the What can I cook from this? button appears.
Cooked more than you ate? Type the name (for example “borscht”), pick the number of portions and tap Add. Hroomy knows storage times (salad — 1 day, fish — 2, the rest — 3) and reminds you to eat it before cooking something new. Ate a portion reduces what is left; for a dish Hroomy already knows, the entry is added to your diary automatically. Expired items are marked red and are no longer recommended.
Add items by hand, mark what you bought, copy the list, clear bought items. Make from the weekly menu (Hroomy+) collects the menu’s ingredients, excludes what you have at home and groups by store aisle. We do not invent prices. In the Bought group you can enter the receipt total and tap Add to budget.
Enter grocery receipt totals (Receipt total, optionally where you shopped, Save). Hroomy shows spending over 7 days, a comparison with the previous week, the amount per person per day and progress toward your weekly budget if you set one (Profile → Food & restrictions → Weekly food budget). These are your actual expenses, not an estimate of dish costs. The tone is always calm: going over is just information.
The list of your meals with times (for example breakfast 08:00). The menu and reminders depend on it. + Add a meal adds another.
Recipes and menus are features of Hroomy+ and Family.
A review of seven days: how many days are logged, averages over complete days, what repeats, one small change. Complete days are those you marked “That’s everything I ate today”, or past days with enough entries. If some days have no answer, Hroomy asks Is this everything you ate on these days? — answer Yes, everything or mark that not everything is logged. Lighter bars are days where not everything is logged. Fewer than three complete days gives an honest “not enough data yet”.
Tap a day to see its entries, correct them or add food retroactively.
At the top is your plan. Plans opens the comparison; Manage subscription (for paid plans) opens the Stripe portal.
Calories, protein, fat, carbs, fiber and water — calculated from your profile and goal. If you changed your data, tap Save and recalculate.
Here you see the rules Hroomy remembered after your ingredient corrections (for example “Homemade salad — without mayonnaise”). Next to each is how many times it was applied and a Forget button. Forget all corrections clears everything. This is not AI training on your data, just personal rules that apply only to you.
On the Family plan add the people you cook for (name, allergies, eating style, what they do not eat). Menus, recipes, the shopping list and product checks take everyone at the table into account, and allergen marks show whose allergy it is. It is planning under a single account: calories are counted only for you and members have no login of their own.
See section 10.
On the Sprout plan a few AI analyses per day are available (how many are left is shown under the Analyze button). Quick confirmations, “My dishes”, barcodes with known data, Rescue and Swap do not use up the limit. Hroomy+ removes the limit and adds menus, recipes and a shopping list from the menu; Family adds family planning. More on the Plans & tariffs page.
Try again in a minute: the AI service is sometimes temporarily unavailable. The free limit is not used up in that case. If the problem persists write to [email protected].
Open Food Facts is filled in by people, so some products are missing or the data is incomplete. Photograph the label or describe the product in words. If you do this for a barcode that Hroomy could not find, the figures from the label are saved in the shared Hroomy database, so the next person with this barcode finds the product at once (your name is not shown).
Drop-down lists open right under the field; on a phone the calendar and the time picker are at the bottom of the screen. Close them by tapping outside the window.
Hroomy is a PWA: in your phone browser choose “Add to Home Screen” and it opens like a regular app.
